Embrace summer!

So after a week of gorgeous summer weather, I looked outside my window this morning and it was raining. Although I love the winter season, I don't like it when it takes over the summer sun. It makes me feel gloomy. And I had quite a few plans for today and errands to run, which will now have to wait because I really don't feel like getting wet. Instead, I decided to stay in and work on my DIY memo board for my room wall - I'll be showing pictures of the finished product soon! Cant wait :)

So in order to lift my mood today, I thought i'd post up some gorgeous outfit and beauty photos that celebrate summer with vivid shades of yellow and orange. It might even give you inspiration for a few outfits to wear this summer. And just because it's raining outside, it shouldn't stop you from wearing bright colours!

Brisbane - Days 3 & 4

So I know I haven't posted in a few days but I've been at home pretty much the whole time looking after a baby labrador. Don't get me wrong, they're super cute and probably my favourite breed of dog, but boy are they a lot of work! It's exactly like having a baby. You have to be with them literally 24/7 and play with them a lot. I couldn't leave his side for 1 minute or he'd cry! So there went my weekend... I didn't mind though, he was such a cute bundle of joy! :) I uploaded a photo of him on my Instagram here, and you'll see a sneaky pic of him below :)

On to other things, I went out to the city and again today and did the usual sight-seeing. Then we went for dinner at a gorgeous restaurant along the beach with a perfect sunset to end the day :) I'm sad to be going home soon, but it was a great week off in sunny QLD!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Brisbane - Days 1 & 2

So on my first day in Brisbane, I decided to go for a walk along the beach and do a little shopping around at the local shopping centre (which was huge!).

Then on day 2, we drove to Surfers Paradise! I hadn't been to Surfers in such a long time, it was nice to be back and enjoy the sunshine and gorgeous blue skies :)

Feeling Blue

I've arrived in Brisbane! My sister and her fiancĂ© live up here and because it's been a while since I last saw them, and i'm still on holidays, I decided to pay them a visit. The weather is amazing here and their house is gorgeous. It's right next to the beach! Since i'll be staying here for a week, i'll definitely be uploading outfit of the day posts, and some shots of the scenery, so stay tuned!

Anyway, at the moment i've been obsessing over all things blue - and it's probably because i've spent most of the day at the beach looking at the gorgeous blue water. Either way, i'm loving blue tones right now, especially bright cobalt blue! I think it's stunning and it's definitely a statement colour that adds instant interest to your outfit. I hope the following images provides some inspiration for possible outfits - whether your relaxing at the beach or working hard at the office.

Enjoy!

Glam it up in gold!

Since it's still January, am i'm still in the New Year mode, i've been obsessing over all things sparkly and sequined. I found some great photos of shiny, gold outfits and I soon realised that my wardrobe didn't really have many sequin clothes and diamonte encrusted accessories. Well, I take that back - I do have many sparkly accessories. But not clothes.

So these gorgeous images inspired a mini wardrobe update for me. I'm still on the hunt for more, but i'm getting there! Just got to find a cute pair of sequin shorts. And i'm hitting the gym hard to look good in them when I do find one!

I think that gold shimmering pieces are such a staple for any wardrobe - especially for special events and occasions. You can certainly dress it up, but what I love the most about a sequin item is the ability to dress it down, and still look chic. Pair a sequin skirt with a simple tank top, whack on a denim jacket, add a few dainty accessories and wham! you're ready!

Anyway, enough of me blabbing.. let's get you all inspired!

Casual in lime

Here's another outfit of the day post. It's a little delayed, and I was debating whether or not to upload it. Then I remembered one of my many new year resolutions was to blog more so I thought what the heck, upload it!

This was a few days ago, when there was a massive heatwave in Sydney (there still is...). It was about 35 degrees that day. It reached just over 50 degrees in South Australia!

I was just heading out for a casual day and since it was nice and sunny, I went with my favourite lime collared shirt. I love how bright it is - it screams summer, especially with the neon trend that's perfect for this season. I paired it with denim shorts that tied up instead of having a normal zip or button. It gives off a beachy vibe to me, which is perfect for a casual summer outfit. And since it was so hot, I decided to go with minimal accessories - just a simple collared necklace and some cute beaded bracelets in neutral colours to tie in with the shorts.

Print is the new black

I've been obsessing over this trend for a while now, especially because i've never been much of an 'all-black outfit' lover. I love colour, and I love prints! I was actually so obsessed with my first pair of floral tailored trousers, I wore them every week. Then went out and bought another pair of ombre floral trousers. They're so comfortable and easy to style. Just pair them with any basics you have in your wardrobe and you've got a stylish ensemble in seconds!

I think print adds interest to an outfit, whether it's on pants, skirts, shirts or even a bag. It can take really take your outfit up a notch and make it pop.

So here are some photos I found inspirational when wanting to pull off the printed trend. If you're daring, there may be some new and unexpected ways of wearing prints. If you're unsure whether try it, maybe these gorgeous outfits will change your mind!

Tropical breeze

Bright and bold tropical patterns are everywhere as summer gets underway, from the red carpet to the runway and now to the beach! The Hawaiian bloom theme is all about embracing the feeling of an island life in a chic and modern way, with an explosion of fruity colours including yellow, aqua blue, spicy orange and fuchsia red with black and white accents. It’s also about combining these bold prints and bright colours with cool fabrics and tropical punch jewellery and accessories to give us the feeling of an island escape or an exotic trip through the rainforest.

Since this commercial and print heavy trend is a classic look for summer, many affordable stores around you like Forever New and Topshop are taking full advantage of this tropical trend, and so should you! Take inspiration from collections such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Missoni, Alberta Ferretti and Dior adjust it to your own personal style. It’s all about having fun with the fashion trend and not taking it too seriously. Try wearing shirts with colourful bird designs or palm trees or even feathers on jewellery. The neon trend also works really well with this theme – just pair tropical prints with solid neon colours and there you have it! So, whether you’re planning a simple trip to the beach, lunch with friends or an evening dinner, it’s easy to add a little bit of a summer theme to your outfit with a few tropical-inspired fashion pieces.

Girls night

I went out on Saturday for a girls night and since it's summer and was really warm out, I decided to brighten it up with some yellow. I paired the shirt with a simple black skirt for a feminine vibe, and toughened the look up with my favourite Moschino belt. I also added some silver accessories to match the belt and finished off with a comfortable pair of wedge heels.

2012 outfit recap

Since the new year is well under way, I thought I'd share some of my favourite outfits from 2012.
Most of them are quite casual and I love them because they were so practical for my day to day activities. I thought it would be fun to take a look back at all these photos and be reminded of the fashion trends that we saw last year, and also some great moments from 2012 that came along with these outfits. I also threw some photos of accessories and jewellery, which I loved wearing during the year.
Most (if not, all) can be found on my Instagram page. Check it out!

Vera Wang SS13

New York Fashion Week saw designers attract inspiration from all corners of the world, and it was no different for globally renowned American fashion designer Vera Wang. She’s usually well known for her haute couture bridal gowns and classy high fashion garments, but brought something a little different to the runway this time.

For her spring 2013 collection, Wang drew inspiration from India. She showcased the signature look of the ‘Nehru collar’ and ‘choli jacket’ as well as plenty of gold detailed embroidery and brocade.

Weird, whacky, wonderful shoes!

While flicking through some fashion magazines (something I spend way too much time on) and admiring all the gorgeous new clothes on runways around the world, I started noticing that it wasn't actually the clothes I was looking at after a while, it was the shoes. My eyes were continuously drawn away from elaborate dresses, flowy skirts and even statement accessories and it was in fact the unusual yet strangely stunning shoes that caught my attention.

We all know that in the wonderful world of fashion, the crazier the idea, the more people will gravitate towards it. It's all about being fresh, fun and unpredictable - and I certainly didn't see these coming on the runway!

So I thought i'd share some with you that I found earlier. Some are more casual, others are just crazy! Maybe one day i'll become daring enough to even work a pair into my outfit. Maybe.

Wardrobes you wish you could live in!

First comes first, happy new year everyone!
I hope you all had an enjoyable festive season and made many memories.

It has been way too long since I posted but blogger has definitely been annoying me! I literally could not post anything. The title bar was fine, but when I went on to type, the cursor disappeared and no letters were showing. AND the top bar which allows me to edit my blog disappeared too - for months! I don't know what happened there.. has this happened to anyone else? It's still a little iffy here and there but I can finally type now. I even went through a phase where I thought about changing to Wordpress or other blog sites. I didn't end up doing that. Oh well, onto more interesting things now.

Since it's the new year, I thought i'd post a few inspirational photos of some drop-dead-gorgeous walk-in wardrobes to get you all pumped up for any projects you may want to tackle this year. I think we're all a little guilty of not finishing something we were so passionate about a few months ago, myself included. I still need to finish a huge memo board I started mid last year! I'll get there...

As the title suggests, I'd seriously love to live in any of these wardrobes. There's something about organising all my clothes and accessories that I find therapeutic. I do it every season. But having a wardrobe on this scale would be heavenly. I'll get there one day. But for now, there's plenty of visual inspiration ;)
